Many states are rolling out curriculum and assessments to align with these standards. Here are IEP goals aligned to the standards for young or severely disabled students. Kindergarten Operations and Algebraic Understanding (KOA) This is the lowest level of mathematical function, but still serves as a foundational basis for understanding operations. According to the Core Common State standards, students should be able to: Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
